Newfoundland
Wildflowers II

This batch of wildflowers deserves their own page. We were about as far north as you can go in Newfoundland, near St. Anthony. I wanted to see the North Atlantic, so we climbed onto a remote, deserted, high bluff overlooking the ocean. We walked up there on the barrens for miles, often looking straight down craggy cliffs. It was my favorite part of the entire trip. It was cold and windy, but beautiful, not only because of the views from the cliffs, but also because of the unusual flora underfoot. George read someplace that some of the wildflowers found here exist nowhere else in the world because of the type of minerals in the soil. This seems to be true as I have been unable to identify all the flowers I photographed.
